With a well-developed sports infrastructure and regular sporting activities, Saldus municipality welcomes sports enthusiasts and athletes!
Saldus Sports Complex
Saldus Sports Complex has a variety of facilities including a gym, a weight training room, an aerobics room, a squash court, two sports halls, a track, tennis courts, a stadium, a football field, a beach volleyball court, and a street gymnastics area.
Saldus Skatepark
Saldus Alternative Sports Complex includes a spacious 800 m2 wooden skatepark, a concrete skatepark covering 450 m2, and there is also a 250m2 asphalt pumptrack. This is an ideal place to practice freestyle BMX riding and skateboarding.
Lake Saldus & Beach
Lake Saldus is situated near the town centre, between the hillfort and picturesque hills. The lake covers 11.9 hectares and has swimming areas for both adults and children. There is a boat ramp, a pier, a recreation area with playgrounds and a beach volleyball court. In summer, visitors can have a drink or a snack at the beach cafe “Bungalo”.
Indoor Swimming Pool in Saldus
The pool has four 25m long lanes. There is a separate children’s pool and a sauna.
Forest Trails in Saldus
Several trails for running, Nordic walking and skiing have been created in the forest by Meža street in Saldus. The trails start at the picnic area by Meža street.
Saldus BMX Track
The modern BMX track is a great place to spend time outdoors and improve your cycling skills. The track can be used by prior arrangement and in appropriate weather conditions. Safety equipment must be worn when using the track.
Saldus Indoor Skatepark
The indoor skatepark in Saldus is small, but fast and technical. Built with passion and dedication, suitable for skateboarding, scooters and BMX.
Outdoor Fitness Equipment
Outdoor exercise equipment is located in several places in Saldus town and in Brocēni. It is available both for the locals and visitors. In Saldus, the outdoor workout equipment is located:
- by the Ciecere nature trail (GPS 56.664784, 22.489475);
- at the children’s playground in Robežu iela (GPS 56.667443, 22.478436);
- at the children’s playground in Celtnieku iela (56.659530, 22.481623).
In Brocēni, the outdoor fitness equipment is located at the beach of Lake Ciecere (GPS 56.678964, 22.563227).
Brocēni Sports Centre
The sports centre features a basketball hall, a volleyball hall, a gym, a football field and an indoor ice rink, available for public ice-skating sessions and offering skate rental.
Tennis and Croquet at Jaunauce Manor
Sports enthusiasts can play croquet and tennis in Jaunauce manor park. The only restored tennis court from the times of the manor in Latvia is located in the park. It was built by the baron Ropp family in 1903, when tennis was highy popular. Croquet is an aristocratic sport – physically not demanding and interesting for players of all ages. No prior knowledge necessary!
