The public organization “Kurzeme Tourism Association” was founded on 25 July 2001 with the goal to unite legal entities operating in the tourism industry of Kurzeme region in one organization, in order to create a favourable environment for the development of tourism together, to represent the interests of tourism in Kurzeme region at the national and international level, as well as to attract investments from various foreign project funds for the development of tourism.

The main areas of operation of the association:

• Representation of the interests of the members of the association in state, local government institutions and non-governmental organizations, as well as in foreign institutions;
• Marketing of Kurzeme tourism products in Latvia and abroad;
• Creating and maintaining an image of Kurzeme that is attractive to tourists;
• Promotion of the development of small and medium-sized tourism enterprises in Kurzeme, business consultations;
• Development of tourism education and research in Kurzeme;
• Identification, creation and development of Kurzeme tourism products.
