Exhibition of Works by Glassblowers of the Livani Glass and Crafts Centre at Janis Rozentals’ Saldus Art and History Museum
From 15 March to 6 May, the Janis Rozentals’ Saldus Museum of History and Art is hosting the exhibition “LIVANI = GLASS”, which features the works of glassblower Aleksandrs Logvins and his assistant Valerijs Weiss in various forms.
The Livani glass factory was closed in 2008, but the locals found a way to preserve the items produced there, to be proud of them and to respect the traditions of glassblowing. Currently, the Livani glass and craft centre houses the rich exposition and preserves the traditions.
In 2016, a glassblowing workshop was established in the centre, where the experienced glass master Aleksandrs Logvins started to work. In 2018, the craftsman received the “Sign of Latvian Heritage” for preserving and promoting the Latvian cultural heritage and demonstrating it to visitors.
In the skilled hands of Aleksandrs Logvins, colorful glass items are created every day – both decorative souvenirs and practical dishes. These products are unique because they are created without molds. New ideas have been created in cooperation with design artists and are then realized in the fragile material – glass.
The opening of the exhibition takes place on 15 March at 5.30 pm.
The museum is located at 22 Striku Street in Saldus (GPS 56.66307, 22.496571). Opening hours:
