As of October 1, Saldus tourism information centre is returning to the winter season opening hours and will be open for visitors Monday to Friday from 8:00 till 17:00. On Saturdays and Sundays tourism information centre will be closed.
The 4th of May is a special day for Latvia - Restoration of Independence day. On 4 May 1990. Latvia proclaimed its independence and Latvians have celebrated this day since then. Lately this holiday has been re-named as the Celebration of the White Tablecloth as Latvians tend to celebrate their special dates sitting at the table and white colour of the tablecloth symbolises the clean and solemn nature of this day.
An international photo exhibition “ZOOM CLIMATE” will be exhibited from the 3rd until the 21st of April in the exhibition hall of Saldus Tourism info centre. The exhibition is made from the works of Saldus photo club “Es daru” and the photo clubs in Saldus twinning towns Vilebon and Liederbach.
Sātiņi ponds are one of the best places for bird watching in Kurzeme.
In spring and autumn this place of feeding is used by thousands of migrating birds. Geese, ducks, herons, lapwings and yellow plowers can be spotted in great numbers. Altogether there are 225 bird species found in Sātiņi nature reserve. In April, there are several hundreds of water birds residing here – ducks, coots, grebes and seagulls.

SALDUS Ghetto games – street culture, which is expressed by sports. This culture and self-expression opportunity teaches the youth to express themselves in sports and cultural events which are made in cooperation with it. This street culture gathers young and talented people, inspires and informs about the diversity of culture.
As usual, the beginning of year is the time of international exhibitions and all three Baltic stated are having their tourism exhibitions where Saldus will be presented by the municipal agency “Saldus TIKS” centre team.
